Permission

A few years ago, I was teaching math, and I asked my principal if it was okay to use extra whiteboards in storage to create more workspace for students in my classroom. I wanted to make as much of my open wall space available for students to work out math problems.. The principal gave me a quizzical look and said, “Of course!”

Sometimes you need permission from someone to do something, but there are many more times in life that we need to give ourselves permission to do something. You probably have something you want to do or try or experience, and it feels like you should be given permission to move forward. What if you only need permission from yourself?
